The elves woke in Cuivienen. They love the night and stars, and even in the 4th age that remains their default preference. The Two Trees were merely a novelty to them, and only served as a bright preview of their own demise. With the coming of light comes the slow decline of Elves and the slow rise of Men. Let's consider elsewhither one may find light, directly after the years of the trees:
The poetic dualism is that by going into the darkest void, they bring back light once again. Consider also unleashing cosmic horrors like Shelob and Balrogs and so on.
